On most US DLs the expiry lands on the holder's birthday. Not "around the same time" – exactly on the DOB. Month-day format, not day-month. 03/07 means March 7, not July 3. Mix up the order and you've birthed a date that never existed.
Every template revision has a fixed revision date. On a 2012 California DL it's identical on all of them. Your own date – flag.
Dates must chain: ISS plus term equals EXP. Break one link and the whole timeline is false. The machine checks arithmetic before it reads the name.

Police in Moradabad busted an interstate scheme for obtaining passports on forged documents. Two detained. Seized: Aadhaar and PAN cards, birth certificates, bank records, voter IDs, electricity bills, school report cards.
The trick isn't the forgery. It's the package. One paper convinces no one – an identity gets assembled as a set, from birth certificate to the electricity bill.
Verification works the same way. The system doesn't trust a passport alone – it cross-checks it against the address, the bank, the tax number. Break one link and the identity falls apart.

The second translucent photo on a card is laser engraving inside the plastic. It has depth: the image lives within the material, not on top.
Laser engraving behaves its own way on curved edges, catches glare at an angle differently. That's optics, not an opacity slider.
The check looks at the ghost first – it's the hardest element to copy. A failure here drags the whole file down.

Reportedly, scammers accessed an Italian government body's email and spent months requesting Revolut customer data while posing as law enforcement. The bank replied. With attachments.
Data from 680 people leaked: addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, ID copies, statements, transactions and some verification selfies. Targets included holders of large crypto assets.
They then demanded $3 million in Monero. Revolut refused to pay but offered to cover document replacement costs for affected customers.
No need to crack the bank's defences. An email from a trusted inbox did the job.

Canada, Durham Region. October 8, a 39-year-old from Brampton arrived at a dealership to pick up a 2027 Mercedes-Benz SUV. She didn't leave in it.
The scheme: September 30, an online auto loan application. In the package – a Canadian passport: her photo, someone else's data. The loan was approved. The document worked.
The failure came at the finish line: she showed up for the car in person. On camera, face to face with live documents. The dealership turned out to be the final checkpoint.
